I offer voice lessons for beginners of all ages. Depending upon your experience and musical know-how, I will cover the following areas, among others:
- how to breathe like a singer, and how to figure out where to breathe
- matching pitches and learning good intonation
- expanding range, and learning to sing through "breaks"
- using chest tone, head tone, and mid-tone (and falsetto for men)
- how to read your musical score
- how to work with an accompanist
- good phrasing
- correct pronunciation and enunciation of vowels and consonants
- improving overall musicality
If you aren't sure what some (or any) of these are, don't worry! That's what beginning lessons are about - to learn the basics of good singing and how to do them correctly.
In addition to lessons, each student will also be invited to share with other students in a "soiree", a party where the invited guests perform for one another. Because it's less formal than a recital, the soiree is a gentler way to become accustomed to performing for others.
